Doctor Strange 2: When will it be released, who
will star in it, and everything else you need to know.
Welcome to the Multiverse of Madness.
While waiting has been difficult, there have been
some ups and downs behind the scenes to keep us entertained. The first major
departure occurred in January 2020, when Scott Derrickson, the director of the
first film, left the sequel due to "creative issues."
However, his replacement has
piqued the interest of Marvel fans. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
is directed by OG Spider-Man director Sam Raimi, with Loki head writer Michael
Waldron penning the script.
Doctor Strange will return to the MCU before the
film's release, since Cumberbatch has been confirmed for a part in Spider-Man
3, possibly to assist Spidey with his whole 'identity exposed' dilemma.
But we're still a long way from there as well. Let us conjure up everything you need to know about Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in the meanwhile.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of
Madness was supposed to be released on May 7, 2021, however with everything
going on in the globe, plans had to change, and the release date has now been
scheduled for March 25, 2022.
Filming began in November 2020, however
due to England's lockdown in January, there were some delays. It's back on
track now, so we can keep our fingers crossed for a March release.
Benedict Wong has even given us a behind-the-scenes look at the safety measures in place on production (as they are in every other movie filming right now).
The cast of Doctor Strange 2 is as follows: Who

Doctor Strange will, of course, be
played by Benedict Cumberbatch, who will be accompanied by a few known faces.
After the dramatic events of
WandaVision, it was reported at Comic-Con 2019 that Elizabeth Olsen would be
reprising her role as Wanda Maximoff, who we may perhaps now refer to as the
Scarlet Witch.
The WandaVision conclusion, according
to Olsen, is a "full tee-up for my part" in the sequel. Will Scarlet
Witch be an opponent in the film, given the post-credits sequence in which she
studies the Darkhold?
After the storey summary had
essentially confirmed it anyhow, Chiwetel Ejiofor announced in June 2020 that
he'll be back in the sequel as Mordo. The fact that he's described as a
"old friend-turned-enemy" suggests he'll keep his dark turn from the
original film's post-credits scene.
The most popular theories are that
he'll either return as a reluctant ally of Doctor Strange (especially if
Scarlet Witch is revealed to be the'madness' that's causing the multiverse to
exist in the first place), or he'll be a secondary antagonist to Nightmare, as
most superhero films have multiple baddies.
It was speculated that Mephisto would
make his MCU debut in WandaVision, but that didn't happen, so we can't use the
TV programme to predict who Strange will face in the sequel.
Rachel McAdams, who played Strange's sort-of love-interest Christine Palmer, was widely expected to return, and it was officially confirmed in December 2020.

The
synopsis says as follows: "Dr. Stephen Strange continues his research on
the Time Stone after the events of Avengers: Endgame. However, an old friend
turned foe foils his objectives, causing Strange to unleash horrible
evil."
We had hoped that WandaVision would
clarify things, with many anticipating a Doctor Strange cameo, but that did not
happen.
We're left wondering whether she'll be
assisting Doctor Strange in whatever multiverse shenanigans he needs help with,
or if she was the one who started them in the first place, as the movie starts
up after the show's events. We can only speculate right now because the cast is
keeping quiet.
When will the Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of
Madness trailer be available on the internet?
We felt Comic-Con 2021 would be a good
moment for a first trailer, but with the event now turning virtual, it's
unclear if Marvel will participate, as they didn't in the virtual 2020 event.
As a result, we may have to wait until
later this year for our debut trailer; we apologise for the inconvenience. For
the time being, you can watch the Marvel teaser instead.
On March 25, 2022, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will
be released.
